Great Seafood
Of course, with all that fishing that we talked about in Part One of our Blog, you’re bound to find yourself in Seafood Heaven. Very few places in the country feature anywhere near the amount of delicious seafood options as does North Shore. The North Shore’s Ipswich Clams, which are hand-harvested from the muddy tidal flats of the Essex River, are unlike any other. Legend has it that fried clams were invented in Essex. Whether you plant yourself outside a traditional shack, or inside one of North Shore’s quaint family restaurants, you will find yourself deluged with wicked good seafood.
Breweries
What about washing all that great seafood down? The North Shore is bountiful when it comes to its brews. Great beer and cider are abundant at places like Far from the Tree Cider in Salem, Newburyport Brewing Company in Newburyport, Clown Shoes in Ipswich, Cape Ann Brewing Company in Gloucester, and Tap Brewing Company in Haverhill. Many of these world-class breweries feature ingredients (locally grown and malted grains, fresh hops and more) from throughout Massachusetts. Arrive thirsty, friends.

Professional Sports
Now, let’s move further inland and talk about stadiums and arenas. Because Boston is “Titletown!” That’s right, any visit to North Shore, be it for business, or pleasure, would be incomplete without checking out The Sox at Fenway, The Patriots at Gillette Stadium, or The Celtics/Bruins at TD Garden regardless of where you’re from, or where your rooting interests lay. Sports fans in the North Shore are among the most fanatical anywhere… living and dying by their local sports teams. As such, you may want to consider investment in a Red Sox ball cap, a Bruins hockey sweater, and/or a Patriots or Celtics jersey. After all, they’re all about “winnah, winnah, chicken dinnah” in North Shore due to the many championship rings collected by their professional teams. Who knows, you may wind up moving there, and adopting one of those “winnahs” as your own.
Getting Around
How about getting around? Those that live in the North Shore live close enough to some sort of alternative transit option run by the MBTA, and most locals prefer to take a bus or train to one of the T stations as opposed to driving.
Fly Beverly
Of course, getting there is a snap with Beverly Regional Airport, located just 14 miles to Boston, we serve as a great jumping off point. Easy to get in and out of, you can get busy exploring right away.
Once in Boston, the T is the most popular way to get around to see a Bruins game at the TD Garden, or catch a Sox game at Fenway, or just walk around the Commons for the day. Whether it’s winter, spring, summer or fall, there’s always plenty to do in the North Shore of Massachusetts.
We would love to answer any questions you may have about exploring the North Shore and extend warm hospitality while you are here! For more information, please contact Airport Manager, Beverly Bouillon
