Court Date Postponed for Former Babysitter Accused of Kidnapping

Abigail Hanna is accused of kidnapping a Hamilton 2-year-old in November.

HAMILTON-WENHAM, MA - The 21-year-old Topsfield resident accused of kidnapping and assaulting a toddler she once babysat won’t be in court after all on Dec. 11.

Abigail Hanna’s pre-trial conference, originally scheduled for Dec. 11, has been postponed until Dec. 31, according to a press release from the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

Hanna is facing kidnapping and assault and battery charges related to the disappearance of 2-year-old Lyndon Albers on Nov. 20. Albers went missing from her Hamilton home at some point in the early morning hours, kicking off a frantic search of the area that ended when a couple spotted the toddler naked in a pile of leaves about seven miles from her home later that morning.

Albers was treated at the hospital and returned home with her parents a few days after her abduction.

At her arraignment, Hanna was ordered to undergo a 20-day mental health evaluation after a court doctor testified that Hanna didn’t understand the charges she was facing and suffered from a variety of mental health issues including hallucinations and past suicidal thoughts, WHDH reported. Hanna was also ordered held without bail.
