Person Killed in Commuter Rail Accident in Hamilton
Authorities are not releasing the person's identity as of 5 p.m. Thursday.

HAMILTON, MA – A pedestrian was struck and killed around 7 a.m. on Wednesday by the commuter rail in Hamilton, between the Hamilton/Wenham stop and the Ipswich stop.
Hamilton Police issued a statement just before 2 p.m. the same day, confirming that the pedestrian struck on the tracks near Cutler Road had died. The statement said the case is still under investigation by the Hamilton Police, MBTA Police, and the Essex County District Attorney's Office.
The identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not been released.

According to the MBTA, nearly 20 passengers were on the train that struck the pedestrian, and were transferred to buses. The MBTA reported that trains resumed regular service around 10 a.m.

Due to a potential trespasser strike between Hamilton/Wenham and Ipswich, Newburyport Line trains are expected to operate behind schedule.
