Stolen Safe, Jewels Found by Police on Side of Wenham Road

Police recovered over $100,000 in jewelry stolen from a Marblehead home last month.

Wenham, MA - Some debris spotted by police on the side of Boulder Lane on Tuesday ended up being a lot more valuable than they typical discarded beer cans and fast food wrappers.

Wenham officers were on patrol in the area of Boulder Lane on Tuesday when they noticed some debris that ended up being a safe and jewelry valued at over $100,000.

The items were collected and brought back to the Wenham police station. Detective Shane Kavanagh, who was on scene, researched recent break-ins throughout the area and found that a safe was stolen from a Marblehead home during the week of March 12-16.

Wenham Police Department recovered a safe and over $100,000 in jewelry that was stolen during a residential breaking and entering last month in Marblehead.

On Wednesday morning, Wenham and Marblehead detectives determined that the safe was the same one stolen from a home in Marblehead.

"We're pleased to have recovered these items to return to their rightful owner," Wenham Police Chief Thomas Perkins said. "I commend the work of the detectives from the Wenham Police Department and Marblehead Police Department, who will continue to collaborate throughout this investigation."
