Three Roofers Hurt in Fall from Wenham Roof

A scaffold collapse sent three roofers to the hospital in Wenham.

Three roofers were injured when they fell after a ladderjack scaffold collapse at a Wenham home, according to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

OSHA spokesman Ted Fitzgerald said it happened at about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday at 12 Parsons Hill Road.

The injured workers were employed by subcontractor Daryl Provencher of Beverly and the general contractor was AC Castle Roofing of Danvers, Fitzgerald said.

“OSHA is opening an inspection to determine if there were violations of workplace safety standards in connection with this incident,” he said.

Wenham Police Chief Tom Perkins said first responders were called for the report of roofers fallen from the roof and Wenham Fire Department assisted. Lyons Ambulance took two people who fell from the roof to the hospital. A third person was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. The names of the injured workers were not released.

OSHA continues to investigate, Fitzgerald said.
