Joe Trustey was a former board member, then president, at the school. Anna graduated from the school in 2013.
The two were conducting college visits in the Midwest when the plane crashed at an airport on the northwest side of Milwaukee Wednesday, according to a statement from Summit Partners where Joe Trustey was an executive.
“The tragic accident that took the lives of Joe and Anna ‘13 is a shocking and profound loss for our school and for the region -- one that’s compounded by our memory of the passing of Kris’s and Joe’s son A.J., who passed away in the fall of 2014,” Head of School Larry Griffin wrote in an email to the Shore Country Day School community.
The Trustey presence has been equally significant in the larger North Shore educational, philanthropic, arts, and social communities, where the family has made an impact through their work and selfless generosity, a release from the school went on to state.

Joe Trustey and his daughter, Anna, both of Wenham according to social media posts, were killed Wednesday night in a plane crash in Milwaukee, Wis.
According to a statement from Summit Partners, the Boston investment firm for which Joe Trustey served as chief operating officer, the two were on a college visit tour in the Midwest when the crash occurred.
“Joe was uniquely distinguished in so many ways: as a partner, a leader and a friend. He was a wonderful husband and father who also cared deeply for those with whom he worked both inside and outside the firm,” said Summit’s Mary Mannion in a statement. “He touched everybody he met with his intellect, his sterling character and his engaging sense of humor. We cannot express how much we will miss his presence in our lives.”
The single-engine plane erupted in flames and crashed at Timmerman airport on Milwaukee’s northwest side, according to an Associated Press report. Investigators are still attempting to determine the cause of the crash.
According to Fortune magazine, A.J. Trustey, Joe Trustey’s son and Anna’s brother, passed away in October 2014.
The two victims are survived by wife and mother, Kristine, as well as daughters and sisters, Caroline and Claire, according to Fortune.
