Wenham Police Department Seeks Captain

With no internal candidates, the Wenham Police Department is looking to hire from another department.

WENHAM, MA – According to Town Administrator Peter Lombardi's latest report, the Wenham Police Department no longer has any internal candidates for the open police captain position.

"As this is a unique situation and an important public safety management position, Chief Perkins and I will provide the Board with our recommendation on a proposed hiring process at your next meeting, which will likely include an assessment center for the top candidates," wrote Lombardi in his Jan. 10 report.

On the subject of staffing Lombardi said the town has developed an internship program to fill gaps in town departments. The program will allow for an undergraduate intern from Gordon College to work with the town in the fall, and a Suffolk University graduate student in the spring. The interns will be managed by the special projects assistant, and volunteer for 125 to 150 hours a semester.
