South Shore Chamber Of Commerce: 10 Graduate From Quincy College Paramedic Program

Ten students have earned Certificates of Achievement from Quincy College for successfully completing the College’s paramedic instruction program, enabling them to continue their academic progress toward achieving the highest level of certification for those who provide pre-hospital care to ill or injured patients.

The students successfully completed approximately 12 months of classroom instruction, skills lab sessions, and skills scenario evaluations followed by 320 hours of clinical hospital-based internship. They now must complete a 250-hour field internship to build on the assessment, management, and treatment skills developed during their classroom and clinical experiences. The Quincy College curriculum is taught by instructors from Comprehensive Medical Teaching Institute (CMTI), a Weymouth-based organization that has partnered with the College on Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and paramedic education since 2019.
“The College’s partnership with CMTI assures that students receive a comprehensive level of paramedic instruction that establishes a foundation for the delivery of the highest-quality patient care,” said Dr. Richard DeCristofaro, President of Quincy College. “We congratulate the members of this graduating class who can confidently advance to the next level of their education knowing they’re extraordinarily well-prepared.”

“Our relationship with Quincy College has created a great opportunity for us to teach and train the next generation of pre-hospital care providers,” said Gary Smith, CMTI’s Director of Operations. His CMTI colleague, Paramedic Program Director Stephen O’Sullivan, added, “Paramedic students in both Quincy and Plymouth receive affordable, accessible education and training for careers in a vital field where jobs are readily available.”
