5 Things: Package Store Help Wanted, Hopkinton Saves on Insurance

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. HCAT America in Bloom Video: is competing in a national video contest 'America in Bloom'. The goal of the video is to showcase aspects of the town including Heritage, Floral displays, Community Involvement and overall pride in Holliston. To view the video and like it click here.

2. Help Wanted: is looking for a responsible person to work Thursday and Saturday evenings with the possibility of more shifts. Please stop in for an application or call 508-429-4201 and ask for Andrea or Jan.

3. Pet of the Week: Bailey is a splendid greyhound boy! He has been in foster care for a while now and has adapted well to home life. He is now ready for his own, permanent home. Bailey is still with his foster mom, so questions and inquiries can be directed to her Cher McManus at 413-536-0101. Bailey is very handsome in his shiny black tuxedo with a white blaze on his nose and is very muscular. He’s bright and very smart. He learns commands and tricks quickly, and even makes up his own! He's also goofy, silly, and funny. Bailey LOVES people. Bailey is strong and fast, and he's enthusiastic about everything. He loves scratches behind his ears, will look you straight in the eye and puffs his cheeks with gratitude. Bailey makes us smile as he chatters and snorts. What a character he is! He calms himself with a shoe or stuffy in his mouth when the excitement of someone coming home is too much. He exercises himself by running laps at top speed in the back yard. Bailey keeps us laughing with his antics. His favorite toy is his ‘shoe’, (and no, he does not harass other shoes in the house.) Bailey walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. He loves to do both of these things! Bailey is well behaved in the house and very obedient. Bailey needs to be in a home as an only pet. He would do best with a fenced in yard that would give him the opportunity to exercise and ‘run off’ some energy. He loves adults, has been very friendly with children, but has not been with babies. He tends to move quickly at times and we think he might knock young children and babies over with his enthusiasm. Bailey is very keen with birds and all animals smaller than him. He is up to date on all vaccinations.

4. Hopkinton Sees Insurance Savings: The Town of Hopkinton announced today that it has received $13,225 back on its workers compensation and property casualty insurance costs. Committed to keeping the community safer and fiscally stronger, the municipality earned the credits through participation in loss prevention and risk management activities that are part of incentive programs offered by the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association (MIIA), its insurance provider. “The Town continues to look for ways to save taxpayers’ money, without compromising the high quality services its residents have come to expect,” Town Manager Norman Khumalo, said. “We commend MIIA on its efforts to help communities reduce their insurance costs through education, prevention and risk management.”
