Lamb Disappointed in 2600 Jobs Lost in June

According to a release from Marty Lamb, restoring economic security will be the top priority.

Submitted by Elect Marty Lamb.

Today Marty Lamb, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Eighth Middlesex District, expressed deep concern about the loss of 2600 jobs in June. He plans to work for reforms that help the small business community put residents back to work and to create more economic certainty.

"Three out of every 4 news jobs are created by small businesses rather than large companies. Our legislators should be focused on creating a better climate where businesses are encouraged to add employees," said Lamb. "Last month our state lost 2600 jobs. Worse yet, we rank number one in underemployed people. It is unfair to those people who have taken lesser jobs to imply the economy is doing fine."

Lamb will make it his top priority to help improve our economy. His plan of action includes:

  • Reduce the exceedingly high filing fees for C and S corporations
  • Curbing health care costs by reducing mandates and creating more options for plans
  • Require a cost benefit analysis on new regulations
  • Reducing the sales tax to make Massachusetts competitive with other states
  • Create a Meals Tax Holiday
  • Stop the Patrick Administration from increasing fees on vending machine companies by 567%
  • Oppose the legislation forcing the unionization of home daycare centers

Lamb wants to make the Commonwealth more competitive with our neighboring states. He believes one way is to reduce the sales tax back to 5%. "Let's keep our people shopping at home. We need no further proof than the popularity of the sales tax holiday weekend. People flock to the stores that weekend to avoid our high sales tax," said Lamb.

Lamb also wants to create a meals tax holiday during the winter in order to boost economic activity for restaurants during the winter when business drops off.

As business owner, he feels it is very important to do a cost benefit analysis on new regulations because they can greatly add to the cost of doing business
