2. Calling All Writers: Are you a writer looking to finish your children's book project? Apply for the Associates of the Boston Public Library's 10th annual Children's Writer-in-Residence competition, a program that provides an emerging children's writer with the financial support and quiet space needed to complete a literary work within a nine-month period. The fellowship provides each author with a "room of his/her own" in the Central Library in Copley Square and a $20,000 stipend, from October 2013 through June 2014. 3. Mayor Menino: Mayor Thomas Menino will be in JP Wednesday to hold one of his many "coffee hours" meetings around the city.

4. One Fund: Menino and Gov. Deval Patrick along with Live Nation are putting on a concert with proceeds benefitting the One Fund. Tickets go on sale today.

5. Parkway Lane Closures: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will close some VFW Parkway/Providence Highway lanes overnight beginning Wednesday to perform maintenance in a Dedham section of the road. The work is well south of JP, but you may want to find alternate routes if driving in that corridor during work hours.
