Boston Police Dept. Takes Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS Research

This year's challenge was held in honor of Sergeant Detective Richard Clancy, who was recently diagnosed with ALS.


Commissioner William Evans and Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross led over 100 Boston Police employees in the department’s second annual ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Monday.

This year’s challenge was held in honor of Boston Police Sergeant Detective Richard Clancy, who was recently diagnosed with this devastating disease. Both Clancy and his family attended the event.

Upon completion of the challenge, the BPD extended a challenge to the Boston Fire Department.

The ALS Knights lent the department hundreds of buckets and Brookline Ice donated the ice.
