Memorial Day: What's Open and Closed

Monday is Memorial Day, and the holiday means some businesses and all government offices will be closed. Before you head to the Post Office or drop your kid off at school, check our list below of what's open and what's closed.

One thing that's open all Memorial Day weekend during daylight hours is the Soldier's Monument at Centre and South Street. The monument to those lost in the Civil War is usually locked up. The opening is at the request of the Jamaica Pond Association.

Retail stores: Open at owner's discretion.

Liquor stores: Closed.

Supermarkets: Open.

Convenience stores: Open.

Taverns, bars: Open.

Parking in Boston: Sunday rules apply.

Trash and recycling pick-up: Delayed one day unless you have twice-a-week pick up.
