JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — A repair project along the Southwest Corridor bike path that was set to start during the Orange Line closure will begin again Monday, according to the state Department of Conservation and Recreation.

DCR crews Monday will begin making repairs where the path begins at Massachusetts Avenue in Back Bay. From there, crews will move south over the course of about six weeks before ending the work near Forest Hills.

The work will mean detours along the path starting Oct. 17 and lasting until Nov. 30. Detours will be in place generally between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

"No segment of the Southwest Corridor will be closed, but minor detours will be implemented. Detours will be clearly marked, and work crews will be on site; however, both cyclists and pedestrians are advised to use caution," DCR said in a bulletin Friday.

DCR initially announced the detours on Aug. 17, two days before the Orange Line closure. The agency ultimately decided to only do some minor repairs because the corridor is a main artery for cyclists commuting into downtown Boston.
