'Too Close Of A Call' Boston Cops Recover After Being Struck In Street
Boston police say a man from Jamaica Plain is facing charges after failing to listen to directions, crashing into the two during a parade.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — Two Boston police officers are recovering after being hit by a car in Jamaica Plain during a parade Sunday afternoon.
Jamauree Haywood, 28, of Jamaica Plain, is facing charges including reckless endangerment while operating a motor vehicle and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
Around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, police say they attempted to direct a driver who "ignored numerous verbal commands" before crashing through police barriers near the parade, striking the two officers."

Both officers were taken to the hospital, but officials described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
Haywood was arrested without incident.

"This was too close of a call," Mayor Michelle Wu said in a press release. "I'm wishing them a speedy recovery and grateful that they and all our officers were present with us in the community keeping residents safe during today's festivities."
