Pacem Musicians, students of Carroll Ann Bottino, from Lexington, Bedford, Waltham, Concord, Burlington and North Andover cordially invite you to their Free Spring Workshop, Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. performing Solo & Ensemble music for Harpsichord, Piano and Recorders, at 62 Sherburne Road South.
Performers are young students in grade 3 through adults.
All students will deliver program notes relative to the composers and their pieces that they are performing.

All students participate in our musical terminology game. Performers draw the terminologies used from a hat when they come to perform. Correct answers come with rewards!
All Piano II and above students chose a ‘Challenge Key Signature’ at the beginning of the academic year. At our Fall, Winter & Spring Workshops, they present their progress on the Scale, Cadence and Arpeggio of their ‘Challenge Key Signature’. These performances also come with rewards!

They also present the Hanon Exercise they are currently working on and the Scale, Cadence and/or Arpeggio of the pieces they are presenting.
A long time student of the piano, Larry Pelavin will open our Spring Workshop. Larry commenced studying Piano & Harpsichord with Carroll Ann in 2011 as a Level IV student.
Larry will present Hanon Exercise No 7, and his Challenge Key signature, B minor. On piano and harpsichord, Larry will play Applicatio, BWV 994 in C by J. S. Bach (1685-1750).
A North Andover resident and knowledgeable birdwatcher, Larry is owner of Signs By Tomorrow in Woburn.
Beginning Piano and Harpsichord II student, Ani Kaleshian, will play Hanon Exercise No. 2 and the Scale of her Challenge Key Signature D minor.
On piano, Ani will play Melodie in C, Opus 68 No. 1, from Album for the Young by Robert Schumann, 1810-1856, Russian Folk Song in G by Ludwig Van Beethoven, 1778-1827 and The Witch in The Forest in A Minor from Silhouettes, Opus 31 by Vladimir Rebikov, 1866-1920.
On piano and harpsichord, Ani will present Passepied in C, B.M. R.M.18.b.8 by George Frideric Handel, 1685-1759.
Ani, who began her music studies with Carroll Ann in 2011, is a Grade 6 student at Austin Preparatory School in Reading. She lives with her parents and brother, also an Austin Preparatory School student, in Burlington. Ani is a figure skater and a soccer player.
Beginning Piano I student, Adrien Dedenis, who commenced studying with Carroll Ann in January will play, Baa, Baa, Black Sheep in C; Harlequin; Jack, be Nimble; Hot Cross Buns and Study in G from Diller-Quaile First Solo Book.
Adrian, a Lexington resident, is a third-grade student at the International School of Boston, and the brother of Margaux Dedenis, also presenting in this Spring Workshop.
Adrian is a soccer player and an alpine skier with his family.
On Tenor Recorder, Marion Kilson will play Aerdigh Martyntje in F minor from Der Fluyten Lust-Hof by Jacob Van Eyck 1589-1657.
Marion on Tenor and Carroll Ann, on Soprano recorder will present a due voci No.2 Bb From Primo Libro della Musica by Giovanni Giacomo Gastoldi, d. 1622 and with both on alto recorders, Georg Philipp Telemann’s, 1681-1767, three movement Sonata VI in Eb; Presto, Largo, and Vivace.
A Level VI Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass Recorder student, Marion began studying with Carroll Ann in 1997.
A Lexington resident and a retired Dean of Salem State’s Graduate School, Marion’s latest book, “Dancing with the Gods, Essays in Ga Ritual” has recently been published.
Close to completing his piano and harpsichord III studies is Ravi Raghavan who has been studying with Carroll Ann since 2006. Ravi will present Hanon Exercise No. 8 at 96 and the Scale of his Challenge Key Signature, A minor, four octaves @ 60. On harpsichord and piano Ravi will perform Gigue from Priemier Livre, 1706, by Jean-Phillipe Rameau, 1683-1764. On piano Ravi will play Ecossaises 1-5 from Six Ecossaises in Eb K. WoO 83 by Ludwig Van Beethoven 1770-1827.
An eighth-grade student at Clarke Middle School in Lexington, Ravi is a math team member and runs track. Ravi also plays Lexington Soccer and tennis for the Youth Tennis Academy.
Margaux Dedenis, who commenced studying with Carroll Ann in January, will present Jack, be Nimble, Hot Cross Buns, Study in G, Marching Song, and two French Folk- Tunes, Pierrot and Sur le Pont d'Avignon from Diller-Quaile’s First Solo Book.
Margaux, a fifth-grade student at the International School of Boston, will commence studying at Clarke Middle School next academic year.
Adrian, who played earlier in this workshop, is Margaux’s brother.
Lexingtonian Rajeev Raghavan began his music studies with Carroll Ann in 2005. A seventh-grade student at Clarke Middle School in Lexington, Rajeev is a Lexington soccer player and swims for the North Shore Swim Team.
A Piano & Harpsichord III student, Rajeev will present Hanon Exercise No. 7 @ 80 and the Scale, 4 octaves and Cadence at 60 of his Challenge Key Signature, B. On piano, Rajeev will perform Lullaby in G by César Franck, 1822-1890. On harpsichord and piano Rajeev will present Gavotte, La Bourbonnoise in G, Gayement, A Section, from Premier Ordre by Francois Couperin 1668-1733
Concluding our Spring Workshop on Harpsichord and Piano Judie Como Toti will perform, Cinq Pieces de Clavecin, by Jean-Phiippe Rameau, 1683-1764; la Livri, La Agacante, La Timide; 1e Rondeau in A minor, its 1st and 2nd Reprise and 2e Rondeau in A and 1st and 2nd Reprise, and L’Indiscrete, also a Rondeau
Judie, a Piano & Harpsichord IX student, the highest level in Carroll Ann Bottino’s Pacem Studio, commenced studying with Carroll Ann in 1998.
A Raytheon Senior Program Manager living in Bedford, Judie is also the clerk and a board member of the Bedford Historical Society and president of the Middlesex Musical Arts Society.
Not performing in our 2013 spring Workshop is Piano I student and Lexington resident Diana Arena, an Internal Medicine MD, with Burlington Medical Associates, admitting to Winchester Hospital, whose sons, Fiske School students Sean and Liam will join her in June as Piano I students. Jim Burns, a Concord resident and retired Lincoln Laboratory scientist is volunteering his talents for this academic year to the school students, their families and the Indian community of an Indian Reservation in Southern New Mexico. Jim is an active mountain climber and bicyclist. A Recorder II student, Jim commenced studying with Carroll Ann in the fall of 2010.
Also not performing are Aharon Cohen from Waltham, a Piano I student and Vice-President of Operations for Sanofi-Aventis US, formerly Genzyme Corporation and Anne De Benedictus a Piano IV student studying Erste Walzer No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Ab, D365, Op. 9. by Franz Schubert 1797-1828 and Allemande in C from Deutches Tanze, 1791 by W. A. Mozart, 1756-1791. Anne is a Human Services Specialist at Tufts University, living in Lexington.
