Lexington Election Papers Due This Week

Anyone planning to run in local elections has to turn in papers by Jan. 8.

Lexington residents looking to run for positions in the 2016 Town Election have until this week to submit nomination papers for their candidacy.

Nomination papers are available in the Town Clerk’s Office on 1625 Massachusetts Ave. until 5 p.m. Jan. 8.

On the ballot are seven town-wide position and more than 60 seats for Town Meeting representatives.

There are two seats on the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee, as well as a seat on each the Planning Board and the Lexington Housing Authority.

To be a candidate for Town Meeting, a resident needs to get at least 10 signatures of people registered to vote in the precinct in which the candidate resides.

In order to be a candidate for Board of Selectmen, Town Moderator, School Committee, Planning Board and Lexington Housing Authority needs to get at least 50 signatures of people registered to vote in the town.
