Lexington Minuteman School Committee Spot Open

The town is looking for candidates to apply for the Minuteman School Committee position.

LEXINGTON, MA — There's an open spot on the Minuteman School Committee and Lexington is looking for candidates to apply and represent the town. The position is for a 3-year term to start July 1.

Each Minuteman High School member Town appoints one representative to the Minuteman School Committee. This representative will have a proportional vote, based on the Regional Agreement, on matters that come before the Committee, including the budget, Superintendent and teacher contracts, and District policies. The Minuteman School Committee’s thoughtful oversight and support are critical to maintaining the school’s position as one of the most respected, innovative vocational technical schools.

According to the town, the ideal candidate will have experience working in town committees or boards, knowledge of MA educational issues, leadership experience and willingness to speak in public. The candidate should have a focus on serving students and be comfortable with municipal financial issues.

Some responsibilities that land on the Minuteman School Committee include attending meetings, professional development and learning about school and budget issues.
