Lexington Named One Of Arbor Day Foundation's Tree Cities
Lexington is one of over 3,600 other Tree City USA communities, with a combined population of 155 million.
LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington announced that it was being named a 2019 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Lexington is one of over 3,600 other Tree City USA communities, with a combined population of 155 million.
To be a recognized as a tree city, municipalities have to meet a list of requirements. The requirements are:
- A tree board or department
- A tree care ordinance (bylaw)
- An annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
- An Arbor Day observance and proclamation
