Lexington Is Ranked One Of The Top 5 Best Small Cities In America

LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington residents should feel confident about their home, as the small, Middlesex community has been ranked the 4th best small city in the United States by personal-finance website Wallethub Tuesday.

Coming in at number one for education and health, Lexington tops all other towns in metrics based on WalletHub's "States with the Best & Worst School Systems" ranking.

This ranking was broken down with numbers from school-system quality to obesity ratings in adults.

Lexington also came in as a top contender for safety in the study, securing the top 7th spot in the country.

Coming in 37th for economic health, Lexington is a leader in the country for population growth and median credit score.

Lexington was one of eight Massachusetts communities in the top 20. It beat Reading who came in at number 5, Milton who placed 8th, Melrose in 9th, Arlington 14th, and Newton and Needham tying for 16th place.

WalletHub compared more than 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 based on 43 key indicators of livability. They range from housing costs to school-system quality to restaurants per capita.

Sammamish, WA, Carmel, IN, and Brentwood, TN were the top three in the nation.
