Monday Essentials: Community Farm Lease Considered, Tax Time Cometh

Here's a quick look at what you need to know for the week ahead in Lexington.

1. Selectmen's Agenda SnippetsThe Board of Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. tonight, July 29, at the Town Office Building, and its agenda includes public comments on the Fourth of July Carnival at Hastings Park, a community farm lease recommendation, a memorandum of understanding on the Battle Road and more. 2. A Pinkalicous PartyAt 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, you can drop by The Elephant's Trunk book shop for readings of Victoria Kann's bestselling Pinkalicious series and a special craft. Added bonus: With a purchase of $10 or more, you'll get a coupon for a FREE mini-cupcake from Cake., located down the street in Lexington center.

3. A Summer Concert: The Lexington Bicentennial Band's summer concert series continues at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday night at Hastings Park. There's no admission fee, but donations are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, beach chairs and blankets. 

4. Lexington Housing Authority Special MeetingThe Housing Authority will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday, July 31, and the evening's agenda includes a procurement policy review and establishing a procurement committee. See the full agenda here

5. Tax Bills Due ThursdayFirst Quarter fiscal 2014 real estate and personal property tax bills are due this Thursday, Aug. 1. (Not Aug. 1, 2014, as the mailing stated.) If for some reason you haven not received your tax bill, contact the Collector’s Office at 781-862-0500 ext. 265. Tax bills can be paid online from the town’s website.
