Monday Essentials: Used Book Store, 3D Modeling Class

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Sunny but cool 

Looks like a bright week ahead but one with some cold temperatures. According to the National Weather Service we can expect mostly sunny skies this week. Temperatures will start in the low 40s on Monday and raise to the mid-50s by Wednesday. Thursday could be more comfortable with a high near 66 degrees but the temps will then drop to the low 50s, high 40s for Friday and the weekend. 

2) Public meetings 

The Board of Selectmen is meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Selectman Meeting Room on Monday. The Planning Board is meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. Click here for a full list of public meetings.

3) Special Town Meeting 

There is a Special Town Meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the Cary Memorial Building, Battin Auditorium. Click here to see the warrant

4) 3D Modeling 

The newly-opened Empow Studio is holding a 3D Modeling and Design Class for students in grades 8-10 at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Using freely available software from the industry leader Autodesk, students will learn to sketch, model, sculpt, and colorize their own 3D designs. Click here for more information

5) Used book sale 

Maria Hastings Elementary School is holding a used book sale from Wednesday through Friday this week starting at 8:15 a.m. in the school lobby. The school has over 2,000 books for sale including adult fiction, non fiction and children's books, all priced below $5. Proceeds to benefit the 5th grade activities at Maria Hastings Elementary School.
