LEXINGTON, MA—National Beer Day was Thursday, but is it just another stupid holiday that allows people to post pictures of their dogs and "man crush Mondays?"

No, the holiday actually has historical significance.

On April 7, the Cullen-Harrison Act went into effect, which effectively ended prohibition after a 13-year "drought." The bill, signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt, was originally signed into law in March.
