LEXINGTON, MA—National Beer Day was Thursday, but is it just another stupid holiday that allows people to post pictures of their dogs and "man crush Mondays?"
No, the holiday actually has historical significance.
On April 7, the Cullen-Harrison Act went into effect, which effectively ended prohibition after a 13-year "drought." The bill, signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt, was originally signed into law in March.
Unfortunately, the clip above does not have audio, but Roosevelt later famously said, "I think this would be a good time for a beer."
Luckily for local brewers, craft beer sales increased by 12.8 percent in 2015. However, overall beer sales slightly decreased by 0.2 percent in 2015.
