1. LACS Summer Artisans Market Opening and Tent SaleWhere/When: Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, 130 Waltham St., Lexington; 10 a.m., Saturday, July 27
Why Go: A tent sale opens the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society’s ninth annual Summer Artisans Market, a weeks-long exhibit and sale that will continue through Aug. 11. The market features original arts and crafts created by members of the LACS guilds, including ceramics, paintings, polymer-clay and beading, decorative arts, photography, woodworks, metal arts, fine jewelry, cards and prints.

2. Animal Stories Book Launch and Celebration
Where/When: Barefoot Books, 89 Thoreau St., Concord; 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27
Why Go: They’ll be celebrating the launch of two “Animal Stories” children’s book titles—The Hungry Wolf and Massha and the Bear—by Lari Don at Barefoot Books in Concord. A day of activities will begin at 10:30 a.m., including story times, crafts and an Animal Friends Picnic.

3. Almost, Maine
Where/When: Regis College Fine Arts Center, 235 Wellesley St., Weston; 2 p.m., Saturday, July 27
Why Go: From the description: "On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways."
Pricing: $17 for adults and $12 for children under 12
4. A Sublime Brotherhood: Two Hundred Years of Scottish Rite Freemasonry
Where/When: National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road, Lexington; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: From the event description: "'A Sublime Brotherhood: Two Hundred Years of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction' celebrates the 200th anniversary of the fraternity, which today encompasses 165,000 members in fifteen states. ... Through more than 100 objects and images ranging from decorative arts and paintings to stage costumes and folk art, 'A Sublime Brotherhood' invites the visitor to travel through time to learn about the people who shaped the Scottish Rite’s Northern Masonic Jurisdiction and also about the fraternity’s contribution to its communities."

5. Colonial Music at Minute Man NHP
Where/When: Hartwell Tavern, 126-150 N. Great Road, Lincoln; 2:45 p.m., Sunday, July 28
Why Go: Park Volunteer Laura Asson will lead a program about colonial music in which folks can listen to 18th century tunes played on a fiddle and learn about the social and military uses of music and dance in colonial times.
