Refugee agency makes Lowell its home (lowellsun.com) — A long-neglected stretch of Middlesex Street is getting new life as the International Institute of New England buys 585 Middlesex St. for a permanent Lowell headquarters, backed by MassDevelopment financing. The move, alongside major Boys & Girls Club renovations and restoration of a historic building, is reshaping this gateway between downtown, Cambodia Town, and the Lord Overpass area while expanding services for refugees and immigrants.

UMass-Lowell knocks off Fisher 122-73 (kvue.com) — UMass Lowell basketball fans just saw a blowout at home, with the River Hawks cruising past Fisher 122–73 in Lowell behind a 21-point, 15-rebound performance from Jerrell Roberson. Several teammates also scored in double figures as the team improved to 4–7 on the season.

4. UMass Lowell engineering students design toys to keep animals at shelter engaged (nbcboston.com) — Animals at the Lowell Humane Society are testing brand-new enrichment toys designed by UMass Lowell engineering freshmen as their final class project. Students studied how each animal plays, then used 3D printers and other tools to build toys that will stay at the shelter, helping reduce stress and boost confidence for pets waiting to be adopted.
