After encampment sweeps and a camping ban pushed people toward the property, officials report dozens of trespassing and drug‑related arrests while warning that enforcement alone won’t solve the deeper housing and treatment needs.
   

• Greater Lowell Community Foundation Announces 2025 Arts Elevate Equity Grant Awards (wilmingtonapple.com) — New arts equity grants from the Greater Lowell Community Foundation will send $5,000 each to nine nonprofits supporting youth-focused arts programs in Lowell and surrounding communities. Projects range from Lowell High students’ antiracism photo book and crosswalk murals to Khmer ceramics, dance, theater, and mural-making, all aimed at boosting cultural identity and youth wellness across Greater Lowell.
   

• Remembering Kundayi Mazando (dailycollegian.com) — A young woman born in Lowell, Kundayi Mazando, is remembered for her drive to study law, fight for social justice, and even one day run for president before leukemia cut her life short at 20. Friends, family, and UMass mentors recall her leadership in student government, campus activism, and everyday kindness that continues to shape how others work and gather today.
