Lynnfield Police Host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Lynnfield Police Department will be a local collection site for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. This day addresses a public safety and public health issue of the misuse of prescription drugs. The majority of misused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Proper disposal also protects the environment. This is a great opportunity to dispose of any unwanted, unused, or expired prescription medications.

The Lynnfield Police Department, located at 55 Summer Street in Lynnfield, will accept the following:

· Medication in its original container. Individuals should remove any identifying information from the prescription label. Medication may also be removed from the original container and disposed of in the appropriate on-site container.

· Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The depositor should ensure that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

Items NOT accepted:

· Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and syringes (no sharps)

· Illicit substances such as methamphetamine
