In a Letter to the Editor, rail trail supporter encourages residents to join with town officials and vote Yes on April 9th.

A Letter to the Editor from Vince Inglese:

The Friends of the Lynnfield Rail Trail (FLRT) welcome publicly stated positions on the proposed
Wakefield-Lynnfield Rail Trail from our elected boards and appointed commissions. This provides
significant guidance and informs our citizens as they weigh this issue in anticipation of the upcoming April 9th Town Election.

The April 9th ballot vote will ask town voters: “Are you in favor of the Town of Lynnfield continuing to pursue efforts to develop a recreational path along the unused MBTA right-of-way, known as the Wakefield-Lynnfield rail trail project?”

Therefore, we are pleased to recognize that at their March 27th meeting Lynnfield’s Planning Board unanimously approved the following proposal by Chairman Charville: “…. the Lynnfield Planning Board recommend the Wakefield-Lynnfield Rail Trail project and encourage town voters to vote in favor of the town continuing to pursue efforts to develop that recreational path on April 9th.”

In addition, Selectmen-appointed Recreational Path Committee (RPC) has, based on their findings over the course of two years of study and carefully listening to citizens’ input, voted unanimously to recommend to the Selectmen, “to move forward with the design phase so that Lynnfield residents can see the complete engineering documents.” {As excerpted from their March 2019 report to the Selectmen, available via the town web site}.

Sincerely,
Vince Inglese, President Friends of the Lynnfield Rail Trail
