A Letter to the Editor from Axel Wirth:

Dear fellow Lynnfield citizens - let’s all be clear on what the upcoming April 9th town ballot vote will be about. Currently, we have a 25% (preliminary) design for the Rail Trail. The next step will be to proceed to 100% (final) design. The ballot question will ask:

“Are you in favor of the Town of Lynnfield continuing to pursue efforts to develop a recreational path along the unused MBTA right-of-way, known as the Wakefield-Lynnfield rail trail project?”

During the recent MA DOT (Department of Transportation) hearing opponents and supporters of the Rail Trail laid out their arguments. Many important questions were raised and need to be addressed; questions about safety, the environment, parking, traffic, trail specifics, and more.

These are important issues that need to be clarified - and the only way we will get these answers is by completing the design. You can support this process and help provide clarity by voting YES on April 9th.
