State Police: Pedestrian Killed on Route 1A in Lynn

The driver of the motor vehicle stayed at the scene, according to state police.

LYNN, MA - A male pedestrian was struck just after 6 Friday night on the Lynnway, Route 1A northbound, in Lynn, according to authorities.

The pedestrian was crossing Route 1A and was not in a crosswalk at the time he was struck, according to the preliminary investigation by Massachusetts State Police.

The pedestrian was transported by Lynn EMS to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to state police. State police did not release his identity pending family notification.

The 35-year-old driver from Hampstead, N.H., stayed at the scene.

Two lanes were closed to traffic for a couple of hours, with one lane of traffic getting by.
