2 Malden Pot Shops Near Development Milestones

MALDEN, MA — Two applicants have been approved by the Cannabis Licensing and Enforcement Commission and have received special permits to operate adult-use marijuana businesses in Malden.

Misty Mountain, located at 323 Commercial Street, and Standard Naturals, located at 7 Linehurst Road, are in the process of getting licensed by the state, according to the commission.

The commission reopened the application process on Wednesday. Proposals may be submitted through Monday, Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. The commission will then meet to discuss applications and schedule candidate interviews.

Licenses available in Malden include independent testing laboratory, marijuana cultivator, marijuana product manufacturer, marijuana research facility and marijuana retailer. A maximum of five retail licenses will be issued.

After being approved by the commission, an applicant moves on to the next set of requirements, which includes conducting a community meeting, petitioning the City Council for a special permit and executing a host community agreement.

Businesses must then submit their applications to the State Cannabis Commission for licensing approval.
