Chamber of Commerce, Eateries Form Malden Restaurant Owner/Operators Association
New group will advocate for restaurants in Malden.
[Editor's note: The following is a press release from the Malden Restaurant Owner/Operators Association.]
The owners & operators of restaurants in Malden joined together last year to address the impacts of the local option meals tax on restaurants and their customers. In January, the Malden Restaurant Owner/Operators Association (MROA) was established. The group was formed to pursue the following objectives:
- Speak with one voice on issues impacting local restaurants
- Conduct joint promotion and marketing campaigns
- Share of good business practices and other information.
The restaurant industry is the fastest growing business sector in Malden. Many residents had the opportunity to experience the quality and variety of Malden food services at the Taste of Malden last week. The MROA will work to promote and support this important part of our community.
One of the MROA’s first priorities will be to work with the City on a “Dine in Malden” campaign. This will improve tax revenues for the City since the passage of the Local Option Meals Tax in January provides a revenue stream directly to cities and towns from the added tax on meals.
The Chamber of Commerce will serve temporarily as the Contact Point for the MROA. For further information contact the Chamber at 781-322-4500 or email: info@maldenchamber.org.
