MALDEN, MA — Residents of 49 Bishop Road are now displaced after a fire broke out at the home this past weekend.
Firefighters responded to the scene on Saturday, Dec. 27 to find flames emanating from the second floor of the house. Malden City Council President Stephen Winslow credited the fire department as well as resident Adam Weldai, for helping the residents and their animals evacuate safely and without injury. According to Winslow, the displaced family will be staying with friends until their home is repaired.
“Cause unknown,” Winslow said about the blaze. “Please remember this time of year to check that your smoke detectors work, be careful not to overload power outlets or extension cords, put out any candles when leaving a room and remove any natural Christmas tree before it dries out.”
