Drummey Announces run for City Council
Will seek to replace the departing Gary Christenson in Ward One.

[Editor's note: The following is a press release from Ward One City Council candidate Michael Drummey.]
My name is Michael Drummey and today I am announcing my intent to run for Malden's Ward One City Councilor. When my wife Margie and I were looking for an apartment 19 years ago, we were fortunate to find a place here in Malden on Oxford Street. Two years later we knew this was where we wanted to raise our children so we bought the house across the street from us, the rest, as they say, is history.
As time progressed so did my commitment to my neighborhood and to the city. The best way I knew how was to actively participate. I became involved through my kids with Cub Scouts, Malden Central Little League, Malden Youth Soccer (where I served as president for two years), Ferryway School PTO, Ferryway School Council, Malden Parade Committee and I presently sit on the Parents Advisory Board of the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Technical Vocational High School.

Even though the election isn't until November 2011, I am declaring my candidacy early to connect with potential voters and give them a chance to get to know me. At this critical time for Malden's future, we are facing enormous challenges that we must come together to address, Maldonians deserve nothing less than a positive, issue-focused campaign. The focus of my campaign would be to offer ideas and policies that will lead to safe streets, strong schools and stable city finances.
I look forward to traveling around the ward meeting residents and business owners in the coming months.
