Finalists For High School Principal All Malden Natives

Meet the three candidates before their open-to-the-public interviews at Malden High School.

MALDEN, Mass. -- The Malden High School Principal Search Committee announced three finalists for the high school principal position. Principal Dana Brown, will leave his post on June 30, 2016.

According to school officials, the three finalists for Malden High School Principal are:

  • Richard Bransfield, a Malden native, is the principal of the Linden STEAM Academy, a K-8 school in Malden.
  • Kevin Brill, a Malden resident with children in the public schools, is the associate head of School at Fenway High School in Boston.
  • Ted Lombardi, a Malden native, is the principal at the Humanities and Leadership Development High School in Lawrence.

The search committee developed a “community profile” of what residents would like to see in the next high school principal, the received over 30 applications, The original pool was narrowed down to 11 candidates.

The search committee further narrowed it to three finalists after conducting interviews.

The committee consists of representatives of stakeholder groups around Malden including city officials, parents, community members, teachers and administrators.

Members of the community will have a chance to meet the final three candidates in the Malden High School library on their respective second interview days next week. Second round interviews are open to the public and will take place in the Malden High School Library. Before the interviews, the public is welcome to meet and greet the candidates from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. on each of these nights:

  • Kevin Brill - Tuesday, Dec. 8: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Ted Lombardi - Wednesday, Dec. 9: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Richard Bransfield - Thursday, Dec. 10: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Following the second round of interviews, the Search Committee will refer the remaining candidates to Superintendent David DeRuosi for final interviews.

An official announcement is expected to be made sometime in January.
