Five Things You Need to Know Today, Feb. 3

Tasty treats await you.

Today is Thursday, Feb. 3. Here are five things you need to know:

Freeze frame: The good news is there is no water of any kind falling from the sky today. The bad news is temperatures are expected to top out in the high 20’s, so there’s little natural melting to help deglaze the roads and sidewalks. Think thick boots and try to use a little sand and salt on your walkways.

A little help to plan your weekends: You’ll notice a lot of new features popping up on Malden Patch today. Each Thursday, we’ll provide you with a Weekend Planner, dining picks, best of lists, and more. Check back throughout the day to learn more.

Malden tastes…good? I, for one, never want to find out whether Malden tastes good, but we all know that there are a ton of fantastic restaurants in town. The Malden Chamber of Commerce hosts its second annual Taste of Malden tonight at the Irish-American Club. Tickets are $30 at the door and the fun starts at 5:30 p.m..

Hold me closer, Tony Danza: After you’ve had your fill of the best food Malden has to offer, head over to the Dockside for Karaoke Night and belt out some wobbly melodies in front of strangers.

Our Malden Reads column moves to friday: All you Malden Reads fans, take heart: We’re moving the column to Fridays. Thursdays are going to be very busy on the site, and we don’t want this fabulous project to get lost in the shuffle.
