Heads-Up: Sobriety Checkpoint This Weekend

Headed to a holiday party this weekend? Don't forget to bring along a designated driver.

ARLINGTON, Ma. - Massachusetts State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint in Middlesex County this weekend.

The checkpoint will extend from Saturday, Dec. 12 into Sunday, Dec. 13, according to state police.

State Police are not saying exactly where it will be, other than that it will be on a public way in the county.

The purpose of the checkpoint, according to State Police, is to β€œ further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways. It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.”
