Hugh O'Neill's Restaurant and Pub

This week's Nearby Bites is all about the comfort food.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Malden Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Hugh O’Neill’s Restaurant and Pub — After weeks of snow, deep cold and yesterday’s soggy winter rain, no one would blame you if wanted some comfort food to make it through the winter. The menu at Hugh O’Neill’s is chock full of Irish home fare. For a real treat, try the Beef Stew, which is made in part with Guinness beer. And for every hearty stew, you need a hearty brew. Try a can of Old Chub’s Scottish Ale, a full-bodied dark beer without the hoppy bitterness of other, lighter ales.

The atmosphere inside is relaxed and charming, with rough wood finishes and tables tucked into corners for maximum privacy. 45 Pleasant St. 781-338-9977. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Prices: $8 to $18 for entrees.
