Raycraft continued: "Valdez is an incredibly passionate person who not only loves the game but knows how to inspire, listen, teach and win — all of these qualities will translate well to our students.”
Before he went into coaching, Valdez played in the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations in addition to playing in the Dominican Winter Leaguer, Columbian Winter League, Frontier League and Northern League.
Valdez said he is looking forward to taking over the Malden Catholic program.
"I have wanted to be a part of the MC baseball program for a long time and I'm extremely excited about having the opportunity to work with the Lancers,” Valdez said. "I am confident that we will make extraordinary things happen on the diamond and bring back the baseball performance that MC enjoyed in its rich history to the Catholic Conference. I look forward to making the alumni base and greater school community proud."
