Malden Celebrates Arbor Day Saturday

MALDEN, MA - Malden is celebrating its fourth annual Arbor Day at Fellsmere Pond on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Since 1872, Arbor Day has been celebrated in this country by planting trees and encouraging appreciation of nature. In honor of this American tradition, a tree is planted in celebration of the environment and to serve as a reminder of the importance of taking care of and protecting the city's trees.
This yearβs tree planting will be dedicated to the memory of longtime Ward 3 resident John Bennett who was a loyal and active member of the ward. This celebration is being organized by Ward 3 City Councillor John Matheson, "who encouraged all come out to celebrate nature, and enjoy complimentary ice cream," according to a release.
