Malden Leaders Meeting To Discuss Trash Strike: Report
Some city leaders are reportedly considering contracting a new collector.

MALDEN, MA — Some members of city leadership are considering finding a nw trash collector amidst the Republic Services sanitation employees strike, according to a report from the Boston Herald.
The strike has gone on for nearly two months with little indication that a resolution is coming soon. The strike has left more than a dozen cities and towns across the North Shore and Greater Boston without adequate trash and recycling collection services. An emergency City Council meeting is slated for Wednesday night to discuss the issue in Malden.
Malden’s public docket for Wednesday shows members of the council are considering other vendors for their trash collections. Council member Karen Colon-Hayes said the strike’s length has led to a serious public health problem.
