Malden Police Honoring Fallen Officer With Fundraising Walk
The beloved lieutenant died last year.
MALDEN, MA — The police department is honoring a fallen officer with a memorial event in early October.
Lieutenant Scott Carroll died unexpectedly on Nov. 3, 2024. He spent 24 years with Malden police having joined in 2000 after serving in the Marines. Carroll’s milestone moments included being promoted to Sergeant in 2014 and Lieutenant in 2023. In addition, his career included time as an investigator for the Criminal Investigation Division, a patrol supervisor, a member and operator of the Special Operations Unit, and a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team.
Outside of his professional duties, Carroll had a passion for physical fitness. He participated in multiple Special Olympics events, torch runs, road race runs, and polar plunges. The department was inspired to hold a memorial walk and run in his name at Lake Quannapowitt on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.
