MALDEN, MA — The police department announced the arrest of a man that took place on Wednesday evening on multiple drug-related charges.

Lamarr Martin, 43, was stopped in his vehicle by Officers Cam Selfridge and Blake Ferry near the Malden Center. According to the department, the pair recovered multiple bags of what is believed to be heroin/fentanyl, a smoking pipe device, and what appeared to be a Glock handgun. However, the weapon was later determined to be a replica that had no visible indicators that it was not authentic.

“From a public-safety standpoint, this incident underscores the dual dangers faced daily by law enforcement and the community alike: the devastating impact of fentanyl and the significant risks posed by realistic imitation firearms during criminal activity,” the department said in a statement.
