Malden Police Officer Hit By Car

Chief Kevin Molis said Officer Mike Langston was "thrown onto the hood, over the windshield, over the roof" on Cross Street Thursday night.

MALDEN, MA — A Malden police officer was injured when he was hit by a car while conducting an investigation on Cross Street Thursday night.

Police Chief Kevin Molis said Officer Mike Langston was one of two officers investigating a report of lost property at the time of the collision. Langston was hit from behind by a car traveling west on Cross Street around 7:42 p.m.

"He was thrown onto the hood, over the windshield, over the roof, onto the ground," Molis said in a statement Friday.

Langston was hospitalized with injuries that Molis described as "significant," but was at home and "doing well" by Friday afternoon, the chief said.

Molis thanked first responders as well as members of the community, who he said reached out with messages of support.
