Malden Preliminary Election Results: Sica, Kupel Move On

MALDEN, MA — Incumbent city councillor Jadeane Sica and challenger Nate Bae Kupel will move on to the general election in Ward 8.

Voters headed to the polls Tuesday to whittle down the field of city council candidates. About 9 percent of registered voters in Ward 8 participated in Tuesday's preliminary election.

Sica received the most votes with 253, followed by Kupel with 144. Amy Friedman received 67 votes, according to the unofficial totals.

There were three write-in votes.
