Hospital Attack: Malden Man Recovering After Serious Injury

The man was reportedly attacked by a homeless person while at Tufts Medical Center.

MALDEN, MA — A resident endured two hours of surgery and more than 50 stitches after an attack at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.

John Baglio brought his son to the hospital last Friday night due to inflammatory heart issues, before he found himself in a fight with another person. The fight resulted in Baglio being sliced in the face with glass from his ear down to his chin.

Wilfredo Burgos, 45, was arrested for being the assailant of Baglio. According to police, Burgos is homeless. A crack pipe was discovered in Burgos’s possession, but it is not believed to be the weapon used to cut Baglio.

Burgos was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and was held without bail. He was slated to appear in court on Thursday.
