Malden Resident Taken By ICE Released On Bond: Report

Edgar Hernan Elias Escobar had to be taken to the hospital after his confrontation with ICE.

MALDEN, MA — A man who was detained by Immigration Customs and Enforcement last month has been released to his family on bond, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.

Edgar Hernan Elias Escobar was approached by agents at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17 while driving to work. The driver’s side window of his truck was smashed as he was removed from the vehicle. Escobar’s wife, Leslie Perlera Gonzalez, gave credit to Gov. Maura Healey, Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll, Attorney General Andrea Campbell, and Malden Mayor Gary Christenson for their assistance in securing his current release.

Gonzales is a United States citizen and asserted that Escobar had a pending petition to become one himself, he also has no criminal record.
