Malden Residents Recognized at Art Competition
Taking 1st Place in the Drawing category was Malden resident Francis Regan for his work, "Quaint Hamlet."

Malden residents were recently honored for their talents at ART + experience, the 14th annual senior art show at Mystic Valley Elder Services. The awards were presented at the September 2nd opening reception of the senior art show.
Rod Peterson took home the 2nd Place prize in the Painting category for his work, “Winthrop’s Great Head.” Also in the painting category, Honorable Mention ribbons went to Malden residents Kathleen Connors, Leda Sullivan, and Rod Peterson for his second entry.

John Webster took home the 1st Place prize in the Photography category for his work, “Morning Light.” Honorable Mention ribbons for photography went to residents Sveltlana Babitskaya and Jaye Phillips.
John Webster also took home the 2nd Place prize for the Collage/Mixed Media category for “Mysterious Forest.”

The winning artwork, along with the 70 other entries in the art show, were on display at the Malden headquarters of Mystic Valley Elder Services, 300 Commercial Street, Malden throughout the month of September.
Mystic Valley Elder Services provides critical, life-supporting care and resources to older adults, adults living with disabilities, and caregivers residing in Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Stoneham, Wakefield and Winthrop.
Mystic Valley Elder Services is grateful to the Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, and Wakefield Cultural Councils for supporting the art celebration. The Local Cultural Council Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences each year.
