Man Charged for Allegedly Stabbing Medford Jogger

Man charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

A man was arrested Saturday on charges stemming from stabbing a jogger on Salem Street in Medford last week, police said.

Craig Bourque, 23, of Great Barrington and three other suspects allegedly assaulted a jogger on Salem Street last Thursday night in a random act of violence. Bourque stabbed the man in the upper torso, police said.

Bourque was arrested on Saturday and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Medford police announced Monday.

The victim suffered serious injuries but is expected to recover, police Lt. Paul Covino said in a statement. He underwent surgery shortly after the incident and is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday.

Bourque was identified as a suspect on the night of the incident, but police didn't have enough evidence to arrest him, Covino said.

After further witness interviews and investigation, police called Bourque to Medford police headquarters on Saturday and he was arrested, Covino said.

The investigation is on-going as police work to identify the other three suspects.
