The injuries sustained by the victims are described as minor.

MALDEN, MA — Multiple people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a large fire broke out at a multi-family home on Fairmont Avenue last week, according to a report from 7 News Boston.

The fire department responded to the large three-story residence on the evening of Friday, Oct. 3 and had extinguished the majority of it by approximately 6:15 p.m. However, the flames had spread to all three floors and displaced the residents. It was originally reported that one firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, however several more people, including civilians , also had to be treated.

While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, Assistant Fire Chief Leonard Dunn said that the blaze began in the back of the home. He added that the situation could have been far worse if the fire began in the middle of the night.
